We had planned on going to Storybook Gardens last summer but then I fell and hurt my ankle. We took a chance on the weather today and we totally lucked out and had a perfect day. Storybook Gardens is an amazing place! I have such fond memories of going there many times when I was kid. For those of you that are not familiar with it, it's am amazing park with a handful of rides, and a spectular park and even a splash pad. There was an entire area of the main park we never made it to since Jake was melting. Oh well, more to look forward to for next time! The entire park is based on nursery rhymes. Nathan LOVED being in the bjorn, after the two and half drive to get there he was done sitting.
We went back to Jake's school for pj story time the other night. It was sad to be back and know it's no longer Jake's school. But we managed to have a great time seeing some friends we have not seen in a while.
We had such a fun morning at the Kids Club Live event. Jake loved seeing all of his favorite PBS characters. They also had a petting farm, which Jake could have spent all day at. There were also several bounce houses, tons of games, arts and crafts, face painting and a Barney sing-a-long. Nathan stayed home with a sitter, it was so nice to have some just Jake time.
Someone was not in mood to take pictures on Father's Day....can you guess who??? I guess I can't blame him after a very long dinner. David had to work most of the day, luckily he was done early enough to join my parents for dinner.
Another first for Jake, since camp is in Southfield this summer about a 25 minutes drive we were able to start a car pool with a family that is less than five minutes away. I picked up Hannah on Wednesday (Jake was confused and thought we were picking up baby Hannah) and this morning Hannah's mom picked up Jake. I was a little tentative that he would go without me. But when he saw they had a dvd player in the car it sealed the deal! He was still a little confused about why I was not going in the car with him but at that point there was not turning back. If this works it will make my mornings a little less crazy.
Nathan had two shots this morning and weighed 15 pounds 6 ounces. He is now in the 5th percentile! His doctor was very happy with his gain of over a pound in the last month. We also got the go ahead to start yogurt and cottage cheese. We go in two months for his 9 month well check-up.
We have taken potty presents to the next level. We took Jake out in underwear for the first time and he did great! We told him if he stayed dry all day he would get an extra special potty present. So on our way to dinner at my parents, we stopped at the pet store for Jake to pick out a fish. He named his fish Maxie. He now lives in Grandma and Grandpa's pond.
At seven months Nathan has mastered sitting up. Unfortunately he is still spitting up:( He might not be crawling yet but he is all over the place. He loves tummy time too! He is eating solids 2-3 times a day and is getting 4 bottles. I tried puffs but he just spit them out. He is off Zantac and Alimentum! He is such a happy easy going baby. He is still talking 3 naps a day. Nathan is in to everything these days. He loves his big brother, Jake can get the biggest smiles and belly laughs out of him. Our little peanut is still in size 2 diapers and 3-6 months clothes, he is starting to wear some 6-12 summer stuff because I know he will grow into it one of these days.
Heritage Park in Farmington Hills just open a sprinkler park this summer. We headed over with Therese, Brady and Logan to check it out. The boys had a great time running around and playing. This will be on our summer rotation many times.
We managed to beat the rain and have a great time at the fair with the Ostrofsky family. Next year Nathan will be able to do a lot more than just the Merry-go-rounds. Jake favorite ride was the train and he would only go if he could be the conductor.
