Why is the weather always so rainy and gross for Halloween events?? I really tried to get out of taking the boys to the West Bloomfield Trick or Treat Trail, but that was not going to fly with them. Luckily it was just sprinkling and was not that long of an event. They had a great time and that is what matters most.

haunt for hunger
Every year my hairdresser Keith goes all out for Halloween. What started as a fun thing for his kids turned in to a charity event, the price of admission is a food donation to Lighthouse Food Bank in Pontiac. His haunted house has been featured on most local news stations. He always tell me to bring Jake and Nathan but I was not sure they were ready. He told be to bring them when it was still light out to make it a little less scary. Jake loved it and was a little nervous at the same time! Nathan was a trooper and was fine as long as he was holding my hand. I could not believe how real the decorations looked.

greenfield village halloween 2012
We statred our night with a pizza dinner at the Scheidts. The boys loved seeing everyone dressed up for Halloween. For the main event we followed an endless path of hand carved jack-o-lanterns and meet many interesting characters along the way. Nathan was worried that characters were going to take his candy. Jake is already talking about going back next year. Luckily we still have lots more Halloween fun to come.

fire station open house
We went last year to this event and the boys loved it so we knew we had to do it again this year. Unfortunately the weather was rainy so everything was moved inside. A little rain did not stop us, the boys still had a great time learning all about fire safety. A highlight this year was the "smokey" house to teach the kids what to do if your house was to ever catch on fire. Jake did a great job of telling the fireman that he calls 911 in an emergency and what our address is.

school pictures 3 ways
This year the package I ordered came with a CD and to my surprise it had more than one image on it. I just wish he was not making such a silly smile.

zoo
We had a great morning at the zoo with Macy, Lilah and Sara. The kids loved seeing all of the Halloween decorations and spent more time playing in the hay maze and checking out the pumpkins then actually looking at animals.

upland hills farms
After soccer we headed to Upland Hills Farm in Oxford. I remember going here as kid and picking out my pumpkins. We went a few years ago before Nathan was born and keep saying we need to get back. The boys had a great time even though it was FREEZING cold. The highlight was the farm show and a crazy long tractor ride. I did not take many pictures because my hands were so cold!

date with Jake
Jake had the day off from school but Nathan didn't. I wanted to make it a fun filled morning for us. I just do not get the one on one time with Jake. After a quick haircut Jake picked to go to Detroit Kid City. His friend Luca from West Maple joined us in the fun. For lunch he requested a milkshake from McDonald's. Not my choice but today it was about quality time with Jake. It was a special morning with my big boy.

soccer picture day
I ordered a package of pictures but I was able to snap a few of my own. Nathan is excited that he will have his own soccer fridge magnet now. If only he was excited to actually play soccer...

fun run
West Maple had their annual Fun Run Fundraiser today. Nathan and I went to cheer him on. Unfortunately it was raining out this morning so they had to move it inside. Each grade ran for ten minutes and raised money for how many laps they ran. Jake ran almost a mile and had a smile on his face the entire time.

fall fest
West Bloomfield had their fall festival Sunday afternoon. It was very busy with long lines luckily the boys had a great time just running around and playing with the frisbees they were handing out. The only thing we went in line for was the petting farm. Nathan has come such a long way since the spring where he would not go anywhere near farm animals.
